diy: birthday card tags

I love vintage cards and at the same time I refuse to write on a vintage card. Most people who get cards from me get a blank card with a hand written note included. Although not all vintage cards are cute and those ones can be easily re-purposed into something better. Most vintage cards have adorable sayings with the loveliest fonts on the inside that can be saved. For an upcoming birthday I tried making a birthday card inspired gift tag and it worked out very well.

To Make:
Using the inside of your desired birthday card trace out a rectangle. Most sayings are odd sized and won't work with a gift tag template. Cut out your saying and cut off the top two corners to make it look like a tag.
* With some scrapbook paper or cardstock, using a tag template cut out your second tag.
* You may use some vintage wrapping paper like I did, with my friends favorite animal or use any sort of paper ephemera that the birthday person will enjoy. Glue your paper onto your cardstock and trim away any excess.
* Hole punch your tags and attach some ribbon or string.
Now your new birthday card tag is ready for its present!
