using vintage paper for gifts

I managed to use some more of my vintage paper this week for a few gift items. The above gift tag was made from an old 1950's party cookbook it had the craziest recipes ever. I really wanted to use the "bologna lillies" recipe but it didn't have a cute illustration so "planetary frankfurters" it was! I love Christmas time since it allows me to stock up on gold things. Buying this bag months back didn't make sense but it does now, it worked perfectly to hold my housewarming gift.
Very much like my birthday card tag diy. For my friends gift I decided to make one giant gift tag out of the inside of a vintage card and use it on the outside of the envelope. I included my hand written note in the envelope. The gift was too small for a tag so I think this variation worked out pretty well.
If you would like to read more about thrifting paper I posted what I like to hunt for here.

  1. I love the idea of using the inside greeting as a giant gift tag. I may steal that idea... ;)

  2. That giant tag from the inside of a card is such a creative, wonderful idea! You always put together such appealing, fun wrapping, dear gal.

    *PS* Thank you very much for your great comment on yesterday's post. I think that makes a lot of sense. I have such lousy luck usually here on the thrift store front that I wait for events like these (and rare trips to bigger cities with more vintage/antique shopping options) on the edge of my seat and feel extra lucky when they pan out as nicely as that one did. It's been the best one I've attended anywhere in the Okanagan so far.

    1. Thank you Jessica:)
      I went to a vintage sale this weekend and made sure I bought myself a few items I know I have never been able to thirft (jadeite/delphite). I am quite happy with my pieces as you should with your great finds.
