new inspired by old

I have a bad habit of following vintage shops on instragram honeytalkvintage is one of them Lisa collects 1940's necklaces so of course I oogle over any picture she posts of them. This turquoise one sparked me to tinker with a necklace I already owned.
I had been gifted this modern take on a brass charm necklace years ago, it is made out a brass I have always had a love/hate relationship with it. I never cared for the "leaves" they were sharp and not stamped they really didn't have much character... I simply took them off I am now I pretty sure I could almost pass off my "new to me" necklace as vintage!

Does anybody else find vintage inspiration and them make it work with what they have?

  1. Your necklace is much nicer after you removed the leaves!

  2. i'd probably wear those without the leaves too!! really precious! :D

  3. What a striking difference it makes when the leaves are gone. I prefer it this new way, too, and agree that it really does look the convincing 1940s part. Way to revamp, dear gal!
