new year, new closet?

I always look forward to new years posts, they offer great recipes and tips to get you going into the new year. Emma from a beautiful mess wrote the best closet post I have read yet. I start every year off feeling like this and try remind myself at beginning of each month. I have a lot of pieces I really love but always seem to be searching for something new.

I personally have a very small closet and a very bad habit of not wearing the things I like and adding in not so loved pieces. My full closet as shown has 37 pieces in it (I own 3 pairs of jeans nothing exciting in the bottoms dept) 18 pieces I can say I adore wearing the rest are for work or I "just have"

This year I will continue on with my second hand wardrobe. The past two years I have barely bought anything new and I hope to finally take my own advice and try items on at the thrift. I seem to come home empty handed and not try on things out of my norm. I hope to narrow down my personal style more and add some more basic pieces like a great blazer, undershirt and some t-shirts.

Anybody else use the new year to clear things out and define how they want to be in the coming year?

  1. this year, i didn't do my clean up for new year. i actually do it during the changing seasons. one on spring time and fall. i have the same space as you in your closet. Fortunately, i've been good in trying to maintain this closet habit of making sure that whenever i put in new things, i take out old ones (not used, or does not fit anymore). this way my closet doesn't accumulate an insane amount of clothing hahaha!

  2. Your closet is so tidy and pretty!! I can't believe you own 37 pieces. TOTAL! I'm a bit jealous of this kind of closet simplicity. My overstuffed closet feels overwhelming some days, but the purging that I do only seems to balance out the buying, so it never gets smaller.

    1. Thanks Lisa!
I 100% regret some of the purging I have done in regards to some of my vintage. I have been ruthless in the past. Your dressing room is what dreams are made of!

  3. I love a well organised and kitschy closet! Student accommodation limits this for me right now, but as soon as I'm out I may go a bit crazy haha!

Your blog is beautiful! I just followed :)
