the newly renovated high tea bakery

For my birthday (from a co-worker) and my secret santa at work I accumulated a pocket full of gift cards to high tea bakery. They have currently under gone construction and are now slowly resuming back to regular service. I couldn't wait to check out the new space as it is conveniently located on Portage Ave near where I live. I quickly popped in for cookies but hope to bring a friend back for their coffee. (yes you Valerie)

The bakery itself is classic with black, white and wood accents. The serve a variety of coffee and tea option for inside or to go and offer affordable cookies and dainties. There are two sit down areas. One upstairs for privacy and another street level with three tables and one long bar style window seat.
The best part might just be their hours open Monday (yes!) to Friday 7 am - 6 pm and Saturdays 10 am -5 pm, closed on Sundays.

I took home my favorite the earl grey shortbread. Tried out the chocolate espresso shortbread which was so good I should have picked up more. Along with a chocolate and peanut butter sandwich cookie and a cardamon caramel cookie (not pictured) plus I borrowed a coffee picture from their instagram account for this post.

Right now the shelves are not fully stocked but they offer gourmet extracts for baking and the loose tea the serve for purchase. The mint green tea is calling my name for next time.

In the St. James area in particular there isn't a lot of choice of cute cafes and bakeries. I am happy to see it is has been expanded and can't wait to visit it more.

    1. Yes Sybil they have two areas! I will edit my post to make it more clear. One upstairs for more privacy and another street level with nice big tables and a bar stand area to look over portage avenue. I am sure you will love it! They put out imperials in the afternoons if you bring your boy:)

  3. Yum! That is such a chic looking bakery, as are their offerings. The tea cookies in particular made my taste buds swoon just looking at them. :)
